While everyone else was focused on election results, yesterday the ILPTO announced via its email list that next month, in conjunction with WIPO, it will be sponsoring "Roving Seminars" in Beer Sheva and Haifa. A detailed program is to follow, but the list of topics in the announcement was as follows: introduction to global systems for registration of patent, trademark and design rights; the WIPO center for mediation of IP disputes; cooperation between WIPO and the ILPTO; digital developments in copyright.
Typically these types of events are held at the PTO in Jerusalem or at ZOA house in Tel-Aviv, so it's nice to see that someone recognizes that there's life outside of those two cities. Hopefully this is a harbinger of other improvements on that score.
The original announcement, posted on the ILPTO's web site on March 12, can be seen here.
